Analyzing Patterns Across Demographics and Categorical Data in Dedoose

This session focuses on incorporating demographic and categorical variables into your Dedoose analysis to uncover deeper patterns in your qualitative data.

Learn how to set up and manage "Descriptors" for participant demographics, data collection timepoints, interview types, or any categorical variables relevant to your study. We'll demonstrate practical techniques for analyzing how coding may vary across different groups—whether comparing responses by age, gender, profession, or tracking changes over multiple interview waves.

The session covers creating meaningful descriptor categories, importing demographic data efficiently, and using Dedoose's visualization tools to examine relationships between codes and participant characteristics. You'll see real examples of cross-tabulating qualitative themes with quantitative variables to identify patterns that might otherwise remain hidden.

Designed for users with basic Dedoose experience ready to enhance their analytical approach.

The workshop will be held on Zoom, and registration is required to obtain the Zoom link.
